In June 2006 British Orienteering launched their new logo and decided to remove the word Federation. This has caused some confusion within clubs. To clarify, we are still registered as the British Orienteering Federation but using BOF does not raise the profile of the sport to the general public. BOF…

or indeed BO has no meaning with regards to orienteering to anyone external to the sport. If we are going to raise awareness of our sport then we must start to use the word orienteering wherever possible. It is requested that in any club communications you refer to the governing body as “British Orienteering”. For further information please read the attached Corporate Guidelines.
