The sprint race today, at Neot Kdumim, was thrilling. This historical site is mainly semi-open, with a few roads and tracks, and a dense network of winding paths, mostly paved, which offered lots of route choices and decision points. I was out in the terrain with my camera as usual…

(pictures here), and I could see many of the orienteers making the wrong choices under pressure, even when on the map it looked easy.The race was won by Hana Bajtosova of Slovakia and Adrian Jackson of Australia, and Michaela Gigon picked up her third medal of her week. The Israeli team had a mediocre day, and our best performer of the championships to date has certainly been Yarden Golan, who despite her lack of orienteering experience is getting good results, riding well and orienteering steadily with few mistakes. Her route from the sprint is below:
