The Historic Hayward Track is one of the finest venues for Track and Field in the world, but the heat made the conditions subpar for distance running. I was glad I had been working out in the heat of Chandler last weekend and felt pretty confident going into the race. Coach Heins wanted me to go out conservatively, and I did.
