thing is to take a choice, and follow your choice with fast and good orienteering. The time differences between the best runners are mostly due to orienteering mistakes. The lack of real routechoice problems is quite typical for these qualification runs in the championships - the courses are typically also a lot easier than the runners experience in the finals.
