highest peaks in Velebit are over 1700 meters high. We did not expect such a huge amount of snow up in the mountains. The snow border was already at about 1400 meters above see level. We skipped the highest peaks but we could still climb many nice mountains. The landscape in this part of Croatia has a special character; it is a karst with various rock formations (bare limestone peaks) but also with forested valleys and depressions.
